This week on Turner Classic Movies
It’s not necessarily my cup of tea, but tonight on Turner Classic Movies, there’s a series of sci-fi and horror films dealing with radioactive stuff, including the TCM original documentary Watch the Skies.
Other things:
• Topper (Saturday, July 7, 8:00PM): This is the movie that first showcased Cary Grant’s comedic skills–he plays drunk like Dean Martin did. If it isn’t obvious by now, I have a really big thing for screwball comedies and, while Topper may not technically be considered a screwball comedy, I think it fits.
• Silent Shakespeare (Sunday, July 8, 12:00AM): I’ve never seen this, but I’m curious to watch it–a collection of silent shorts from the early days of film that are based off of Shakespeare’s plays.
Also of note, though? For fans of the Thin Man series, or for fans of William Powell and Myrna Loy, August just got quite a bit brighter:

Myrna Loy and William Powell Collection
Available August 7th.
The set includes Manhattan Melodrama, Evelyn Prentice, Double Wedding, I Love You Again, and Love Crazy.
I’ve already ordered my copy.
